Grand Miramar states that Puerto Vallarta’s botanical garden is a great place to drink in the exotic flora native to this tropical paradise. Built in a 20-acre area that was nothing more than a browning cow pasture in 2003, this living museum can be explored free of charge by any guest.

Grand Miramar believes that hundreds of native and interesting plant species call the gardens home. There are a number of secluded trails branching out around the property for those who want to strike out and discover the grounds on their own, and those wanting a little more guidance, there are daily tours at 1pm. There are many remarkable sights around the gardens; visitors should be sure to check out the labyrinthine organic architecture of the giant strangler fig tree and the serene natural beauty of our Ten Fern Grotto. The latest expansion to the grounds is a Holstein vanilla and orchid conservatory, a preserve featuring a rotating array of stunning orchids and a host of other alluring flowers.

The gardens are registered as a 501(c)(3) organization, allowing the gardens to accept tax deductible donations from American beneficiaries and tourists. The gardens survive on generous grants and donations in order to keep the area free and beautiful.

Grand Miramar members further add that the garden is also the perfect place to purchase some Mexican flowers to take the natural beauty of Puerto Vallarta home. The garden has a continuous stock of flowering bougainvilleas (a striking, purple-pink flower), anthuriums (a blood red round flower), orchids and thunbergias (a large purple or orange star-shaped flower). In addition, the gardens have many seasonal flowers to choose fro; you’re sure to find something that will fit your home nicely. Also for sale are fresh herbs and spices that are sure to lend some newfound panache to your favorite home-cooked dishes.

Grand Miramar travelers believe that also in the garden is the Hacienda de Oro, a fresh, homestyle restaurant featuring a diverse menu of salads, wood-fired pizza, and of course a delectable selection of Mexican specialties. Meaning “Golden Home” in Spanish, Hacienda de Oro is a great place to relax in the shade after taking in all of the beauty the gardens have to offer.

Puerto Vallarta Botanical Gardens is open seven days a week and only closes on national holidays.
